2015 Fujian H5N8 In Wild Birds In Klamath County Oregon Have North American PA

Prior to the recently released sequences from wild birds, all H5N8 sequences had 8 gene segments from Asia. However, in the recently released APHIS sequences a Canada goose and wigeon hunter harvested on January 18 in Klamath County Oregon had a North American PA (same PA as found in H5N1 in Whatcom County, Washington.  These two isolates also had a North American wild bird PB1.
