Poultry Bans from Jackson and Madison Counties In Alabama

The recent announcement of H7N9 detection in southern Tennessee has led to bans of poultry products iin nothern Alabama (Madison  and Jackson Counties)  Increased surveillance in this counties has led to confirmations in Madison Co (site of backyard farm) and Jackson County (site of flea market in Scottsboro and site of originating backyard farm in Hollywood).

  1. Fresh/Frozen poultry and poultry products derived from birds originating from, slaughtered, processed, or shipped from Madison Country and Jackson Country in the State of Alabama on or after March 4, 2017. Restrictions are in place because these countries are within the 10Km Control Zone associated with the March 4, 2017 Lincoln Country, TN outbreak.*

Alabama - Poultry slaughtered on or after February 8, 2017, which originated from or passed through or is slaughtered/processed within the zone shown on the attached map is ineligible. Within that zone, poultry slaughtered and processed before February 8, 2017 is eligible. Poultry slaughtered on or after February 14, 2017, which originated from or passed through or is slaughtered/processed within the zones shown on the attached maps is ineligible. Within those zones, poultry slaughtered and processed before February 14 , 2017 is eligible.*
