The state's second case of the Zika virus has been confirmed in a Newaygo County man who contracted the mosquito-borne disease while traveling.

The patient, described as a "young man" whose exact age was not available Tuesday, was infected while traveling to Honduras at the end of January. Dr. Jennifer Morse, medical director for District Health Department #10, said the man suffered from symptoms within about a week of returning to Michigan.

Test results by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention came back about six weeks later.

The state's first case of Zika was confirmed in a 61-year-old Ingham County woman in February.
