Health Minister of France, Marisol Touraine said today RMC radio that there is a "strong suspicion" of a case of microcephaly connected to Zika virus on the island of Martinique in the Caribbean. It would be the first case of microcephaly in France, an anomaly is suspected to have been caused by Zika, a virus transmitted by mosquito that has spread throughout Latin America.

Marisol Touraine said 130 pregnant women were diagnosed with the Zika virus in the Caribbean, including Martinique and French Guiana.
"For one, we have elements that lead us to believe that the baby developed microcephaly and microcephaly is directly linked to their infection with the Zika virus," said the minister.
