Connecticut COVID Cases Increase To 58,297 Deaths To 4,513

As of October 01, 2020, at 8:30 PM, the total of laboratory-confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases reported among Connecticut residents is 58297, including 55862 laboratory-confirmed and 2435 probable cases.

One hundred ten patients are currently hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed COVID19.

There have been 4513 COVID-19-associated deaths.

Among 69,634 PCR diagnostic test results reported to DPH to date with a specimen collection date during September 25-October 1, 1.6% were positive. The report today includes 38,223 test results and 95 cases newly reported as part of catch-up reporting for Connecticut-based colleges and universities that required sorting from results that included nonConnecticut college results. These tests were performed during September 9-September 27, 2020. Among 95 new cases reported as part of this catch up, most were among residents of Mansfield, Hartford, and Fairfield where these colleges/universities are located. In Connecticut during the early months of this pandemic, it became increasingly clear that it would be necessary to track probable COVID-19 cases and deaths, in addition to laboratory-confirmed (RT-PCR) cases and deaths. This was needed to better measure the burden and impact of this disease in our communities and is now part of the national surveillance case definition for COVID-19.
