niman Posted December 1, 2016 Author Report Share Posted December 1, 2016 Tunisia: Cases of bird flu diagnosed in migratory birds at the lake Ichkel December 1, 2016 By: Di TAP Cases of unusual deaths were recorded in some species of migratory birds in the Taref area (delegation Ghezala) in the governorate of Bizerte, at the intersection of Oued Sejnane and Lake Ichkel announced the Ministry of Agriculture, water and fisheries resources, in a statement released Thursday, adding that the analyzes led to diagnose bird flu disease in these birds. The Ministry assured, in this context, that no case of infringement of this disease has been recorded at the level of family farming and industrial structures of chickens in different regions or in other wet areas. The department announced in the same frame a number of provisions aimed at preventing the spread of the disease. It was decided to close and quarantine Ichkel the park and enhance the continuous monitoring at the level of industrial structures and family breeding of chickens and at the level of wetlands. Moreover, the ministry called the farmers to respect the rules of biosecurity in poultry houses, including the protection of poultry by preventing the introduction of migratory birds, strengthening livestock inputs control measures and non acquisition of birds of unknown origin.
