Novel H5N8 Constellation In Brod nad Dyjí Czech Republic Chicken

State Veterinary Institute Prague Sidlistni has released a full 2017 H5N8 sequence, A/chicken/Czech Republic/206-17_2/2017, from a chicken from a backyard farm in Brod nad Dyjí. These sequences were most closely related to the full sequences from Croatia and France, but had a novel PB1 gene that was most closely related to 2015 H3N8 sequences from wild birds in Mongolia.  Thus, the Czech Republic represents the fifth 2016/2017 H5N8 constellation that is distinct from the parental constellation identified in 2016 outbreaks at Qinghai Lake in China and Uvs Lake in Russia,
