Two H5 HPAI Canada Geese Cuyahoga County Ohio

 At least 15 dead Canada geese have been found in and around Lower Lake in recent days and the cause of death is believed to be Avian influenza, said Zach Hillman, Cuyahoga County wildlife officer for the state Division of Wildlife.

 

Hillman said he collected two dead birds on March 15 and had them sent to the U.S. Geological Survey National Wildlife Center for testing. He said it has not been confirmed that bird flu is the culprit, but that is the suspicion. He said he doesn’t think there is anything in the water or on land that would have killed the birds.

We just received word from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources that the geese and other birds recently reported dead were infected with Avian influenza.
