MOSCOW, January 31. / TASS /. Two people infected with coronavirus were detected on the territory of the Russian Federation, both citizens of China. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, head of the headquarters for the prevention of the importation and spread of new coronavirus infection in Russia Tatyana Golikova.

It is noted that the infected were identified by the services of Rospotrebnadzor in the Tyumen region and the Trans-Baikal Territory. Both are isolated and under tight surveillance. Golikova emphasized that the necessary assistance is provided to Chinese citizens.

On December 31, 2019, China notified the World Health Organization (WHO) of unknown type of pneumonia in Wuhan, a large commercial and industrial center with a population of more than 11 million people. On January 7, it was possible to establish the causative agent of the disease - the 2019-nCoV virus. In addition to China, the disease was detected in another 21 countries, including the Russian Federation. WHO recognized the outbreak in China as an emergency of international proportions. To date, the total number of people infected with the new coronavirus in China has exceeded 9.8 thousand, more than 200 people have died.
