Eight (8) of them were in different stages of decomposition and one (1) recently died; it was conditioned for subsequent shipment to the official SENASA laboratory. Laguna de los Pozuelos is a settlement site for wild birds. It is located in the northwest of the province of Jujuy in the Puna area, an area of very low population density and close to the border with Bolivia. So far, no other birds have been affected. Since this is a high altitude area, there are no nearby poultry farms.
