It is the first confirmed case in the county since the deadly outbreak began. Officials did not release any details about the patient, including how they contracted the virus or if they possibly exposed others. The coronavirus patient was among those who landed at MCAS Miramar last week after traveling from Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the virus outbreak. The patient was among the few taken to UC San Diego Health for evaluation after displaying symptoms that health officials said could indicate coronavirus. The patient’s positive test results were confirmed Monday evening by Thomas Skinner, public information officer with the CDC. No one else who is currently under evaluation for coronavirus from the flights that arrived at MCAS Miramar has tested positive, according to the CDC. The patient who was under a federal quarantine order recently returned from Wuhan, China, where an outbreak of respiratory illness caused by this novel coronavirus has been ongoing since December 2019. This brings the total of number of 2019-nCoV cases in the United States to 13. CDC is conducting a thorough contact investigation of the person who has tested positive to determine contacts and to assess if those contacts had high risk exposures.
