The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands informs that the protocol established by coronavirus has been activated after confirming that an Italian citizen has given a first positive test for coronavirus carried out this Monday at the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria.

The protocol establishes the obligation to perform second tests at the National Center for Microbiology of the Carlos III Health Institute. The citizen is isolated and under sanitary control. The same protocol has been activated that has been put in place before other suspicious cases in other parts of Spain.

The president of the Canary Islands, Angel Víctor Torres, has informed through his official Twitter account that the corresponding protocol was activated during the late night of this Monday. He also points out that this Tuesday the tests will be repeated in Madrid.
