"We have obtained the test results of a Croatian national who was in Milan from 19 to 21 February. He shows signs of a milder illness and hopefully remains so. We take precautions. We will concentrate on the contacts the young man has made and treat them adequately. It is an illness that is similar to the flu and no major complications are expected from those in flu cases. We will organize a quarantine for those who have been in contact with it, "Beros said.

He also said that the findings of nine workers who were housed at the Rijeka hospital were not yet known.

"They show no signs of infection, except for one man who has been coughing for three weeks, which we do not associate with the coronavirus," Beros said.

He said that Croatia was entering a higher stage of readiness and that its health system had all the capabilities to respond to the threat.

"The health system is ready and we will do everything for the safety of the nation's health," he noted.
