Barcelona has two cases of coronavirus imported from Italy and is preparing for a “certain drip” of more patients in the next two weeks, according to Joan Guix, director of Public Health of the Generalitat.

 

A woman of Catalan nationality of 36 years and a young man of 22 are the first two cases diagnosed with Covid-19 and, as the two patients have explained, they would have been infected on their trips to northern Italy this February. Both recover favorably at the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and where the laboratory in which the evidence of suspicious cases is analyzed is also found.

 

 

300 CORONAVIRUS TESTS

Up to 300 coronavirus tests can reach the Clinic every day, Health sources have indicated, which have already begun to foresee the possibility that the analyzes can accumulate as of now and is accrediting other laboratories in Lleida, Tarragona and Girona

 

 

SECOND REGISTERED CASE

The young man, 22, was in the city of Milan between February 22 and 25. The person presented on Tuesday afternoon a few tenths of fever -37.5º- and discomfort in the throat. The other infected person went to the Clinic, where it was confirmed that he has coronavirus . All other cases analyzed in Catalonia have been negative.

Guix has ensured that the patient is mild and is now locating the people with whom he has been in contact to put them in isolation , if necessary. If they have no symptoms, these people will only have to remain at home for two weeks.

 

33 ISOLATED

So far, 33 people linked to the first victim are quarantined in their homes by order of health authorities. All these citizens would have been in contact with the 36-year-old woman. In any, all these neighbors, for now, have no symptoms of the disease.
