FLI has release a full H5N6 Common Pochard sequence (collected 12/28/17) from Bavaria Germany.

After the poultry pester of the subtype H5N5 was detected in a poultry keeping in the district of Steinburg on Monday, further holdings of the same plant are affected. FLI has released an EID paper that describes the H5N8 reasortant first seen in the sequences from Poland, A/herring gull/Poland/84/2016. https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/23/4/16-1949_article Eight new sets of sequences have been deposited at GISAID, but not yet released. A highly pathogenic (highly pathogenic) avian influenza virus of the H5 type was also detected in a fallen Stockente in Muggensturm (Landkreis Rastatt). However, it is not H5N8, but another subtype of the virus. For further clarification of this case the Ministry is in close consultation with the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut.
