  2. Two waterfowl have died due to avian influenza (HPAI) at Roeding Park, according to the City of Fresno. The Fresno Chaffee Zoo has been monitoring the virus for several months and back in July, they decided to take precautionary measures to protect their birds. The Bird Show is still on pause, aviaries have been closed, and some birds have been moved off their habitat. https://www.yourcentralvalley.com/news/local-news/avian-flu-detected-at-roeding-park-zoo-being-cautious/

  7. The OC Health Care Agency (HCA) has received confirmation that six birds have tested positive for Avian Influenza A (H5N1), also known as Bird Flu, in Orange County. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) recommends that hunters take precaution to limit the possibility of spread of infection to humans, and that the public stay clear of any sick or dead birds they may find. https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fmailchi.mp%2Fochca%2Foc-hca-reports-avian-flu-in-oc-birds%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR3RhSIhzkWZtO3xGMk7wIkud4RUDaKY8WUo07WOX__0NV72-nnhgHsSDkI&h=AT23zJ5NXoFsNdDQNewGEVCcCzrm2S8JkRGEPW8-VbxpfGazetnqO_2jC7SJGHlWfTMoHLBfoA7hUv8yM3OEKUhxcdVby5ISV6hnbH…

  10. After spreading across the country, a historic wave of avian flu has made its way into San Diego. The San Diego Humane Society confirmed the first case was found in a black swan from Lake San Marcos. Tom Munnecke, a resident of the area and part of a local community group that tracks the lake’s bird inventory, says his group was the first to report the case. “One of the residents turned it in and they sent it to UC Davis, San Bernardino Campus, and they did a test on it,” said Munnecke. He says the bird came back positive for the highly pathogenic bird flu. “I’m a citizen scientist,” said Munnecke. “I love science. I’ve been watching the lake clo…

  24. The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) have detected a case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in a backyard flock in Calaveras County, California. As of today, HPAI had previously been confirmed in domesticated flocks in the following counties: Butte, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Fresno, Sacramento, and Tuolumne. To protect other California flocks, the infected locations are quarantined and the birds are euthanized to prevent further disease spread. https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/ahfss/animal_health/Avian_Influenza.html
