Percent of COVID-19 cases living in group housing Long-term care facilities include skilled nursing facilities (nursing homes) and assisted living facilities (community-based residential facilities and residential care apartment complexes). Group housing facilities include correctional facilities, homeless shelters, dormitories, and group homes. The data on group housing is unknown at this time for a portion of cases because these data have only been systematically collected since April 8, 2020. However, any COVID cases who were part of an outbreak investigation in a long-term care or other group housing facility prior to April 8 are classified under the appropriate group setting category (and are not included in the unknown category). Percent of COVID-19 cases by recovery status The number of patients recovered from COVID-19 is defined as the number of confirmed cases who are currently alive based on Wisconsin state vital records system data and had one or more of the following: Documentation of resolved symptoms Documentation of release from public health isolation 30 days since symptom onset or diagnosis Active cases include COVID-19 cases who were diagnosed in the last 30 days, are not known to have died, and do not yet meet the definition of having recovered. Weekly High Case and High Incidence Counties These weekly tables count cases based on the date of testing, not the date the test result was reported, and count only those cases where the date of testing is known. They rank counties by weekly cases, and by incidence (cases proportional to population). A separate table ranking all counties is also available. All tables updated weekly. Combined with testing done by the MSDH Public Health Laboratory, the figures provide a complete picture of all Mississippi testing. PCR testing detects current, active COVID-19 infection in an individual. Antibody (serology) testing identifies individuals with past COVID-19 infection based on antibodies they develop one to three weeks after infection. Total tests PCR Antibody MSDH Public Health Laboratory 24,265 24,265 0 Other providers 126,433 119,652 6,781 Total tests for COVID-19 statewide 150,698 143,917 6,781 Note: MSDH has revised its method of counting antibody tests to better reflect total serology panel tests rather than separate antibody component tests. This produces a lower total of antibody testing than yesterday's, but one which better represents antibody testing in the state.. Revised May 23 Combined Testing Total tests PCR Antibody MSDH Public Health Laboratory 23,752 23,752 0 Other providers 123,316 116,633 6,683 Total tests for COVID-19 statewide 147,068 140,385 6,683 About this revision: Serology panels can test for multiple antibody components (e.g., IgA, IgG, IgM) at one time. Reporting each individual antibody component as a separate test does not accurately reflect the total number of individual serology tests performed in the state. MSDH has refined its process for capturing and reporting the number of individual serology (antibody) tests performed in the state. The serology testing data provided in the table above reflects the total number of antibody panel tests performed. May 23rd's data presented the individual antibody components, not the serology panel tests. May 23rd's data has been edited to better reflect the measure of serology testing being performed in Mississippi. MSDH Individuals Tested as of May 24 MSDH Public Health Laboratory (MPHL) testing totals as of 6 p.m. These totals are for tests performed at the MPHL only. Total individuals tested by the MPHL: 22,975 Total positive individuals from MPHL tests: 2,437

As public health investigations of individual cases continue, there will be corrections to the status and details of referred cases that result in changes to this report.City of Detroit and Wayne County are reported separately Note on the deaths: Deaths must be reported by health care providers, medical examiners/coroners, and recorded by local health departments in order to be counted. Note on jurisdictional classification: In order to provide more accurate data, the “Other” jurisdiction category will no longer be used. Michigan Department of Corrections cases will be listed under “MDOC”. Federal Correctional Institution cases will be listed under “FCI”. Note on Case Fatality Rate: The case fatality rate is the number of people who have died from causes associated with COVID-19 out of the total number of people with confirmed COVID-19 infections. It is used as one measure of illness severity. Several factors can affect this number. Until recently, COVID-19 lab testing has prioritized for hospitalized individuals due to limited testing availability. As a result, COVID-19 infections were identified more often in people who were more severely ill. This would lead to a higher case fatality rate. As more people with mild illness are tested, it is likely the case fatality rate will go down. Links DAILY COUNTS LAB TESTING DATA ABOUT PLACES LONG TERM CARE FACILITIES CORONAVIRUS SYMPTOMS Cumulative Total of Recovered COVID-19 Cases (as of 5/22/2020): 33,168 Note on recovery: During this response, MDHHS is reviewing vital records statistics to identify any laboratory confirmed COVID-19 cases who are 30 days out from their onset of illness to represent recovery status. As the pandemic continues to impact Michigan, this pool will expand to include more cases. Recovered is defined as the number of persons with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis who are alive 30 days post-onset (or referral date if onset is not available). The number of persons recovered on May 22, 2020 represents COVID-19 confirmed individuals with an onset date on or prior to April 22, 2020. If an individual dies from a COVID-related cause >30 days from onset/referral, they are removed from the number of persons recovered. These numbers will be updated every Saturday.
