PA-CDC-STM-UNK650/2021 Allegheny County Pennsylvania The first and only confirmed case of the UK variant of COVID-19 has been found in Allegheny County, health director Dr. Debra Bogen announced Wednesday afternoon. Dr. Bogen suspects that the variant “has been present in the county for a while. She also said that having a confirmed case of the variant reinforces the county’s need to “double down” on mitigation efforts. Contact tracing was completed for the person who tested positive with the variant, and it was found that they do not know how they caught it, according to the health department.
