niman Posted January 7, 2017 Report Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) FLI has released an EID paper that describes the H5N8 reasortant first seen in the sequences from Poland, A/herring gull/Poland/84/2016. https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/23/4/16-1949_article Eight new sets of sequences have been deposited at GISAID, but not yet released. However, 6 of the H5 and N8 sequences are represented in phylogenetic trees,and all match the Poland sequences. A/chicken/Germany-MV/R8790/2016 A/chicken/Germany-SH/R8758/2016 A/tufted_duck/Germany-SN/R8795/2016 A/tufted_duck/Germany/AR8459-L01988/2016 A/turkey/Germany-SH/R8595/2016 A/tufted_duck/Germany/AR8444-L01987/2016 https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/23/4/16-1949-techapp1.pdf PA and NP trees include the latter three sequences above, which also match the sequence from Poland, confirming presence of additional internal genes which match the most widely reported European H5N8 constellation (also present in Sweden, England, and France).
