¹A case is confirmed when the positive result is confirmed at US CDC.

²A presumptive positive result is when a sample sent by a health provider directly to the state lab tests positive or the state lab validates positive results from non-governmental labs. Maine CDC sends samples from presumptive positive tests to US CDC for confirmation.

³A preliminary presumptive positive result is when a patient tests positive at a non-governmental laboratory. The samples are sent to Maine's state lab for validation.

⁴This number represents negative tests from state, reference, or commerical laboratories, or at US CDC.

⁵This number represents the number of tests pending at Maine’s Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory. Tests pending at commercial labs are not included in this number.
