https://tass.ru/obschestvo/7656549 MOSCOW, January 31. / TASS /. Two people infected with coronavirus were detected on the territory of the Russian Federation, both citizens of China. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, head of the headquarters for the prevention of the importation and spread of new coronavirus infection in Russia Tatyana Golikova. It is noted that the infected were identified by the services of Rospotrebnadzor in the Tyumen region and the Trans-Baikal Territory. Both are isolated and under tight surveillance. Golikova emphasized that the necessary assistance is provided to Chinese citizens. On December 31, 2019, China notified the World Health Organization (WHO) of unknown type of pneumonia in Wuhan, a large commercial and industrial center with a population of more than 11 million people. On January 7, it was possible to establish the causative agent of the disease - the 2019-nCoV virus. In addition to China, the disease was detected in another 21 countries, including the Russian Federation. WHO recognized the outbreak in China as an emergency of international proportions. To date, the total number of people infected with the new coronavirus in China has exceeded 9.8 thousand, more than 200 people have died.

https://www.stmgp.bayern.de/presse/aktuelle-informationen-zur-coronavirus-lage-in-bayern-bayerisches-gesundheitsministerium-2/ The Bavarian Ministry of Health informed on Friday about the current development of the new corona virus in Bavaria. A ministry spokesman said in Munich that, according to the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL), another coronavirus case in Bavaria was confirmed at noon. It is a child of the man from the district of Traunstein, the positive finding of which was published late Thursday evening. The man is an employee of the company from the district of Starnberg, which also deals with the other four cases known to date. There are a total of six coronavirus cases in Bavaria. According to doctors, all those affected are currently in a stable state of health. Tests by other people who also work for this company showed no further positive results until midday on Friday. The Bavarian Ministry of Health will provide further details later today. The contacts identified so far should isolate themselves at home and continuously report to the health department with information on their health status.

https://www.statnews.com/2020/01/30/first-documented-case-of-coronavirus-spread-by-person-showing-no-symptoms/ People showing no symptoms appear to be able to spread the novel coronavirus that has caused an outbreak in China and led world health authorities to declare a global emergency, researchers reported Thursday in the New England Journal of Medicine. If confirmed, the finding will make it much harder to contain the virus. The case described — from Germany — could help resolve one of the major unknowns about the virus, which as of Thursday night had infected nearly 9,700 people in China and killed 213. About 100 more infections have been reported in 18 other countries, but no deaths. Some viruses, including SARS, which is another coronavirus, can only be passed when a person is showing symptoms. Others, like the flu, can be spread a day or two before the onset of symptoms. If people are contagious before they become sick, they can be unknowingly spreading the virus as they go shopping or to work or to the movies. Trying to snuff out the virus in that case is a much more difficult task. What’s also concerning is that the spread from an asymptomatic person appeared to lead to two generations of cases, meaning the person who contracted the virus then passed it on to others. The infection described in the new paper involved a woman from Shanghai who traveled to Germany for a business trip from Jan. 19 to Jan. 22 and displayed no signs of the disease, which include cough and fever. She only became sick on her flight back to China, and was confirmed on Jan. 26 to have the virus, known provisionally as 2019-nCoV. On Jan. 24, however, a 33-year-old German businessman who had had meetings with the woman on Jan. 20 and 21, developed a sore throat, chills, and muscle soreness, with a fever and cough arriving the following day. He began to feel better and returned to work Jan. 27. After the woman was found to have the virus back in China, disease detectives went to work, getting in touch with people who had been in touch with the woman — including the German businessman, who by then had recovered and appeared healthy during an examination in Munich. Tests, however, showed he had the virus. On Jan. 28, three coworkers of the businessman tested positive for the virus. Only one of these patients had contact with the woman from Shanghai; the other two only had contact with the German man. All four patients in Germany were isolated in hospitals and have not shown any signs of severe illness. “The fact that asymptomatic persons are potential sources of 2019-nCoV infection may warrant a reassessment of transmission dynamics of the current outbreak,” the experts wrote. Germany is one of four countries, along with Vietnam, Japan, and, as of Thursday, the United States, to report limited local transmission of the virus. The large majority of cases outside China were identified in people who had picked up the virus in China and then traveled to other countries. The increasing risk the virus seems to be posing to countries outside of China led the World Health Organization on Thursday to declare a public health emergency of international concern, or PHEIC. Until now, there was some debate whether asymptomatic transmission of the coronavirus was possible. Health officials in China said last weekend that they had seen evidence of such spread, but U.S. health officials and leaders at the World Health Organization had repeatedly said that was a question they were still trying to answer. Even if asymptomatic people can spread the virus, they may be less likely to than people who are sneezing and coughing — routes for the virus to jump from one person to another.

"His condition is serious (...) we will do everything we can but it is severe," said Professor Yazdan Yazdanpanah, head of the infectious diseases department at Bichat hospital in Paris. The patient is in intensive care and is on "artificial ventilation". Arrived in France "on January 23", he first consulted the emergency room of the European hospital Georges Pompidou in Paris on the 25. "He had a fever but no cough or respiratory signs, he was not from Wuhan but from a town 400 km to the north: it was far from the criteria and was not retained as a possible case ”of infection. "It was only yesterday, when he developed and worsened a respiratory condition, that there was again a request for classification and the classification was retained because he had respiratory signs." The test is then found to be positive. Her 50-year-old daughter also developed symptoms. A test is underway to find out if she is infected. Health officials are now working to find out if the patient may have infected others in the emergency room. A crisis meeting was organized on Wednesday and made it possible to identify all the staff who were in contact with the patient. "We have been able to identify a certain number of people and we will follow all that is recommended to try to monitor them," he added. None "is currently symptomatic, there are few patients who have been identified with a major risk, significant exposure". This kind of case could lead to a modification of the identification criteria set by the world health authorities, and in particular an enlargement of the Chinese zone considered at risk.

https://www.dpa-international.com/topic/first-case-coronavirus-confirmed-germany-urn%3Anewsml%3Adpa.com%3A20090101%3A200128-99-659625 Berlin (dpa) - The first case of the new coronavirus has been confirmed in Germany, a spokesman for the Munich health ministry said late on Monday. The patient is a man from the Starnberg area of Bavaria, some 30 kilometres south-west of Munich. He is in a stable condition, according to a statement from the Bavarian office for health and food security (LGL). "He is being monitored by medical staff and is isolated," the statement said. A spokesman for Bavaria's health ministry said the risk of infection to the people of the German state was seen as low by experts from an LGL infectious disease taskforce and the Robert Koch Institute, the German government's research agency for disease control and prevention. Those who had close contact with the patient have been fully briefed on symptoms, hygiene measures and how the virus is spread.
