The Florida Wildlife Hospital has stopped accepting patients after-hours through its drop-off boxes because of a large number of calls about sick and dying ducks near the Banana River and Indian River. This week, state wildlife officials reported that several ducks in Brevard County have tested positive for avian influenza (HPAI), a highly pathogenic illness. https://www.mynews13.com/fl/orlando/news/2022/02/18/florida-wildlife-hospital-taking-precautions-against-the-avian-flu

GREENE2: Laboratory testing of a commercial flock of turkeys in Greene County has identified H5 avian influenza virus. This is considered a presumptive-positive case, and samples are being verified at the USDA National Veterinary Services Laboratory (NVSL) in Iowa. This is the fourth farm (known as Greene2) in Indiana to be diagnosed with avian influenza. Pending test results should indicate if the virus is the same as the index farm diagnosed on Feb. 9 and if the virus is highly pathogenic. Depopulation efforts are underway on the premises, which includes 15,200 birds.

Japan has issue a ban for a new region in Alabama. The center of the restriction zone is a farm in Pickens Co Alabama near the border with Tusaloosa. Therefore the exclusion zone covers areas in both counties. The center of the circle is on a farm owned by Peco Foods. https://www.fsis.usda.gov/wps/portal/fsis/topics/international-affairs/exporting-products/export-library-requirements-by-country/Japan
