28-year-old doctor dies after working on frontlines against Wuhan virus for 10 days straight He's believed to have died from overwork and exhaustion by Alex Linder February 5, 2020 in News 0 Ayoung doctor who had been working non-stop to fight against the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak has died from apparent exhaustion. 28-year-old Song Yingjie was the deputy team leader of the pharmacy group at a health center in Hengshan county, Hunan province. When the seriousness of the virus outbreak became apparent to everyone in China, he was assigned on January 23 to a local expressway inspection team. He was also responsible for distributing medical supplies to his colleagues. Over the next 10 days, Song worked as much and as hard as he possibly could. After finishing his shift at midnight on February 3, he went back to his dormitory to rest. He was later found dead in his room by his colleagues. He’s believed to have died from sudden cardiac arrest caused by exhaustion and overwork.

Videos of sudden death of citizens in Wuhan was been said to be caused by myocarditis. A young (28M) in Hengshan county, Hunan province MD working on the front lines against nCoV was said to have died from sudden cardiac arrest caused by exhaustion and overwork. These deaths are similar to sudden deaths during the 1918 flu pandemic. The exhaustion and overwork explanation of sudden death for an MD working on the front lines against nCoV increases concerns that nCoV deaths are grossly understated. https://shanghai.ist/2020/02/05/28-year-old-doctor-dies-after-working-on-frontlines-against-wuhan-virus-for-10-days-straight/

Current information on the coronavirus situation in Bavaria - Bavarian Ministry of Health: Now a total of eleven cases The Bavarian Ministry of Health informed on Thursday about the current development in cases with the new corona virus in Bavaria. A ministry spokesman said in Munich that, according to the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL), another coronavirus case in Bavaria had been confirmed. There are currently a total of 11 confirmed coronavirus cases in Bavaria (as of 1:00 p.m.). CDC Telebriefing on 2019-nCoV 2/5/20 - 12:15 PM ET
niman replied to niman's topic in United States (2019-nCoV)
Press Release For Immediate Release Thursday, February 6, 2020 Contact: CDC Media Relations (404) 639-3286 Shipping of CDC 2019 Novel Coronavirus Diagnostic Test Kits Begins Distribution of CDC Diagnostic Test Kits Will Expand Laboratory Capacity to Detect 2019-nCoV A CDC-developed laboratory test kit to detect 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) began shipping yesterday to select qualified U.S. and international laboratories. Distribution of the tests will help improve the global capacity to detect and respond to the 2019 novel coronavirus. The test kit, called the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) Real-Time Reverse Transcriptase (RT)-PCR Diagnostic Panel (CDC 2019-nCoV Real Time RT-PCR), is designed for use with an existing RT-PCR testing instrument that is commonly used to test for seasonal influenza. The CDC 2019 novel coronavirus test is intended for use with upper and lower respiratory specimens collected from people who meet CDC criteria for 2019-nCoV testing. The test uses a technology that can provide results in four hours from initial sample processing to result. “Our goal is early detection of new cases and toprevent further spread of the coronavirus,” said CDC Director Robert R. Redfield, M.D. “Distribution of these diagnostic tests to state laboratories, U.S. government partners and more broadly to the global public health community will accelerate efforts to confront this evolving global public health challenge.” The test kit has not been FDA cleared or approved, however distribution and use of the test kits follows the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) February 4, 2020, issuance of an Emergency Use Authorization(EUA). The tests are being shipped through theInternational Reagent Resource (IRR), a CDC-established mechanism that distributes laboratory reagents domestically and globally. Initially, about 200 test kits will be distributed to U.S. domestic laboratories and a similar amount will be distributed to select international laboratories. Each test kit can test approximately 700 to 800 patient specimens. Additional test kits will be produced and made available for ordering in the future from the IRR. At this time, each laboratory that places an order will receive one 2019-nCoV test kit. The IRR is accepting orders for 2019-nCoV tests from qualified laboratories. This includes 115 qualified U.S. laboratories, such as state and local public health laboratories and Department of Defense (DoD) laboratories, as well as 191 qualified international laboratories, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Influenza Surveillance Response System (GISRS) laboratories. This test is only authorized for the duration of the declaration that circumstances exist justifying the authorization of emergency use of in vitro diagnostic tests for detection and/or diagnosis of 2019-nCoV under Section 564(b)(1) of the Act, 21 U.S.C. § 360bbb-3(b)(1), unless the authorization is terminated or revoked sooner. Check the CDC website for the latest information and guidance on 2019-nCoV. The CDC will continue to update its guidance as the 2019-nCoV situation evolves. nCoV MD Whistle-Blower 34M Dies After Three Week Hospitalization In Wuhan

The Chinese doctor who tried to warn others about coronavirus By Stephanie HegartyPopulation Correspondent 3 minutes ago Share this with Facebook Share this with Messenger Share this with Twitter Share this with Email Share Related Topics Coronavirus outbreak Image copyrightWEIBO Image captionDr Li posted this picture of himself from a hospital bed on 31 January - a day before he was diagnosed with coronavirus A Chinese doctor hailed as a hero for trying to warn others about coronavirus in the early days of the outbreak has died from the virus, Chinese state media say. Dr Li Wenliang, thought to be 34, tried to send a message to fellow medics about the outbreak at the end of December. Three days later police paid him a visit and told him to stop. He returned to work and caught the virus from a patient. He had been in hospital for at least three weeks. He posted his story from his hospital bed last month on social media site Weibo. "Hello everyone, this is Li Wenliang, an ophthalmologist at Wuhan Central Hospital," the post begins. It was a stunning insight into the botched response by local authorities in Wuhan in the early weeks of the coronavirus outbreak. Dr Li was working at the centre of the outbreak in December when he noticed seven cases of a virus that he thought looked like Sars - the virus that led to a global epidemic in 2003. The cases were thought to come from the Huanan Seafood market in Wuhan and the patients were in quarantine in his hospital. US bars foreigners who recently visited China Coronavirus: How worried should we be? Coronavirus: A visual guide to the outbreak On 30 December he sent a message to fellow doctors in a chat group warning them about the outbreak and advising they wear protective clothing to avoid infection. What Dr Li didn't know then was that the disease that had been discovered was an entirely new coronavirus. Image copyrightWEIBO Image captionAfter falling sick, Dr Li said on Weibo that he wondered why authorities were still saying no medical staff had been infected Four days later he was summoned to the Public Security Bureau where he was told to sign a letter. In the letter he was accused of "making false comments" that had "severely disturbed the social order". "We solemnly warn you: If you keep being stubborn, with such impertinence, and continue this illegal activity, you will be brought to justice - is that understood?" Underneath in Dr Li's handwriting is written: "Yes, I do." He was one of eight people who police said were being investigated for "spreading rumours". At the end of January, Dr Li published a copy of the letter on Weibo and explained what had happened. In the meantime, local authorities had apologised to him but that apology came too late. For the first few weeks of January officials in Wuhan were insisting that only those who came into contact with infected animals could catch the virus. No guidance was issued to protect doctors. But just a week after his visit from the police, Dr Li was treating a woman with glaucoma. He didn't know that she had been infected with the new coronavirus. Image copyrightLI WENLIANG Image caption"We hope you can calm down and reflect on your behaviour," the letter police told him to sign says In his Weibo post he describes how on 10 January he started coughing, the next day he had a fever and two days later he was in hospital. His parents also fell ill and were taken to hospital. It was 10 days later - on 20 January - that China declared the outbreak an emergency. Dr Li says he was tested several times for coronavirus, all of them came back negative. Image copyrightWEIBO Image captionDr Li Wenliang was accused of spreading rumours On 30 January he posted again: "Today nucleic acid testing came back with a positive result, the dust has settled, finally diagnosed." He punctuated the short post with an emoji of a dog with its eyes rolled back, tongue hanging out. Not surprisingly the post received thousands of comments and words of support. "Dr Li Wenliang is a hero," one user said, worrying about what his story says about their country. "In the future, doctors will be more afraid to issue early warnings when they find signs of infectious diseases." "A safer public health environment… requires tens of millions of Li Wenliang." -
